What Are You Reading?

“Back then I could not understand one word of what I read. Reading did, however, give me heart. Even if you cannot understand what you are reading you can get something from books” (Peter Hoeg, Danish Author)

Currently, I’m working on my PhD, so, I’m reading lots of heady material.  Still, I read for pleasure and to be informed.  For example, I recently read an English translation of Swedish author, Fredrik Backman’s book, A Man Called Ove.  Yes, it was made into a film, but the movie isn’t as great as the book.  It’s a quirky, bittersweet fiction story about a curmudgeon/busybody and his collection of neighbors.  I highly recommend it. The Audible version is entertaining; yes, I consider ‘reading’ by listening still reading.

In addition, I’m reading these non-fiction books because the history is being intentionally deleted in the United States of America.  Mostly, I wanted these books on my bookshelf to house vital information about what is true before book banning removes them and the indoctrination machine of the current regime wipes out the truth of the history of the country. Here they are:

  • A People’s History of the United States by Howard Zinn

  • The Constitution of the United States of America, Declaration of Independence Article of Confederation, The Bill of Rights, and Amendments XI-XXVII. [It is obvious many in the highest levels of government n the USA have either never read The Constitution or don’t care because they are ignoring it. When I travel now, I carry a copy of this with me in case I get detained for any reason.]

  • An Indigenous People’s History of the United States by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz

  • A True History of the United States by Daniel Sjursen

  • The Humanity Archive, Recovering the Soul of Black History from Whitewashed American Myth by Jermaine Fowler

In addition to the history books and the entire Constitution, I just got this book and it’s worth a read, especially to younger generations:
