Women Supporting Women Part I

Highlighting Holly Beshea, Metaphysical Practitioner

Recently on social media, I’ve seen a slew of young women behaving like ‘mean girls’ especially targeting Baby Boomers, Gen Xers, Millennials, black women, brown women, white women, lesbian/gay/queer women, and trans women. In other words, they were dissing just about every woman and group of women! And, we’ve all observed older women, too, misconducting themselves in a bullying manner toward other women. While this type of persecution and unkind verbal attacks is nothing new, once it hits social media, it amplifies the ugly mean-spiritedness. At a time when women are under attack from politicians and the culture, women not supporting other women is unconscionable. The last thing women need are women bullying other women.

I considered what I will do to support other women and was inspired by one of my favorite T-shirts; it sports this powerful phrase: “We rise by lifting each other” (Cirque du Soleil). What I will do is to highlight a few local women, sharing some of their story, inviting you to learn about what they offer, and supporting them in their passion. This week, my friend Holly Beshea is the star of this week’s blog essay.

Holly grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana. She has 29 years experience as a Speech Pathologist, works with Cognitive Performance/Rehabilitation in adults and children, has 17 years experience in Behavior Analysis and Modification. She has three children, so, she has a full life. In 2012, Holly began a life-changing journey which led her learn quantum physics, meditation/mindfulness, Neuro-linguistic Programming LP (NLP), mind/body connection, and to become a Reiki Master and Energy Healer. In addition, Holly has become a certified life coach.

I interviewed Holly last week and she shared more about what she is doing:

Me: During the school year, you serve the community as a Speech Pathologist helping children communicate effectively. In addition to your job with the school system , what is your passion, your purpose?

Holly: My passion is helping people. While I have always known I was ‘the helper,’ I haven’t always known what that should look like or how that worked into my purpose, but, during my college years, Speech Pathology just seemed to be a good fit. Having some hindsight, I now realize that not only was I helping others, I was providing a healing service. And the healing was just the next evolution of my helping. I see helping others is the same as playing a role in their personal transformation.

Me: How did you discover your passion, your purpose?

Holly: It’s less of a discovery and more of a remembering process that unfolded. I’ve always felt I had something important that I was here to do and that I needed to wake up to what that was. Looking back, I remember when I was toddler my dad told me, “ You’re a helper” and it was like a gong sounding. That was followed by an inner realization that I am here to help others. I can see where I’ve followed that ‘helping’ theme through my life. When I took a look around and realized the transformation that my ‘helping’ created for others and in my own life, there was an instant connection to what I came to this lifetime to do. Helping others connect to their purpose.

Me: How have you curated this passion, this purpose? Through experience & practice, through intuition, through certifications?

Holly: As I was searching for my purpose, I was constantly observing to find the place where I ‘fit.’ I listened, and I began learning about energy work, about the energy of the universe, and everything I could get my hands on. I just followed my interest and stuck with topics that sparked excitement in me. This snowballed into studying more in-depth how we can transform our outer reality by transforming our inner world.

Me: Beyond helping others, what appeals to you, resonates with you about expressing your passion, your purpose?

Holly: When I’m living my purpose by teaching or doing an energy reading, I feel connected to higher wisdom. That is something that sparks passion! I’ve learned that living a life led by passion brings me closer to my authenticity, who I am at my core. Real transformation becomes possible when your energy is authentic and aligns with the flow of life. It brings more happiness, friendship, and love to your life. So it feels like a win-win. I also believe that there are possibly millions of others just like me who are here for the purpose of healing and helping others.

Me: If someone wants to learn more, how will you work with them?

Holly: My system for working with others follows my evolutionary process of awakening. In spiritual coaching, we go back to childhood to look for the ‘breadcrumbs,’ which I believe Spirit uses to guide us to remember.

I offer services that are all aimed at helping others discover their purpose and heal past suffering. I find that many people have unhealed trauma, so, having a Chakra Energy Reading is [a great] place to start healing and aligning to your passions and your authentic self. Starseed Readings are the next step that shows you the big purpose of why you’re here, the gifts you bring and what energies you are healing from previous lifetimes and for future generations. I also offer meditations, classes, and courses over YouTube and through my personal website to support people on their spiritual journey.

I met Holly in a class in 2021. When I heard what she offers and how she works helping people, I got a Starseed Reading, arranged a Reiki healing session, and experienced an Energy reading. Holly found some places that need more attention and healing. The Starseed Reading, and having participated in several of her Starseed classes, confirmed what I suspected about my purpose. Her Chakra Energy Readings are based in science - nothing ‘woo-woo’ about that - and can pinpoint areas where healing needs to take place. Holly gave me an mp3 of healing tones, and, I listened to it every day until the area of concern healed. Sound healing is effective with me and Holly uses sound in her practice.
