Sharing Resources

ree

I’m often asked to share what I’m reading or to list compelling resources. In this week’s blog post, you’ll see what I’m reading and a few resources I suggest:

Reading

*A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle - I have read this book and have listened to it over Audible many times; a copy of it is always on my nightstand.

* The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle

* Now, Discover Your Strengths by Marcus Buckingham and Donald O. Clifton — you must buy a new one that contains the secret code in it to assess your strengths.

*Altas of the Heart, Mapping Meaningful Connection and the Language of Human Experience by Brene’ Brown - in this book, the researcher and her team explore working definitions of 87 emotions.

* The Gifts of Imperfection by Brene’ Brown - this is a short book and it is full of insights, especially beneficial to women because so many of us had been indoctrinated to be ‘invisible’ and to look out after everyone else’s needs rather than our own.

*Why we Sleep: Unlocking the Power of Sleep and Dreams by Matthew Walker - PhD. is a specialist in neuroscience and psychology who focuses on helping others get a good night’s sleep and, thus, improving the waking performance.

*The Way of Integrity by Martha Beck; I have read and listened to this book and learn something new every time I pick it up.

* Cues: Master the Secret Language of Charismatic Communication by Vanessa Van Edwards; this book is like a workbook and includes online extras. I learned that much of what I thought I knew about reading and using body language was incorrect. As an extraverted introvert, Ms. Van Edwards’ work on communicating, using cues, and reading cues armed me with how to start conversations successfully.

* Captivate: The Science of Succeeding with People by Vanessa Van Edwards - “This is the first comprehension, science-based, real life manual on human behavior and a completely new approach to building connections” (https://www.scienceofpeople.com/captivate/).

*Women who Run With the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estes - As a storyteller myself, I enjoy hearing Dr. Pinkola-Estes read her book over Audible. Powerful lessons on the email psyche and psychology.

*The Hero With a Thousand Faces by Joseph Campbell - an oldie that’s a goodie. If you are fascinated by archetypes, mythology, and storytelling, this is a great book to have in your Kindle. Professor Campbell worked with George Lucas when Lucas was developing the mythology for Star Wars.

* New Moon Astrology by Jan Spiller - The author is an intuitive astrologer and this book is a reference book for new moons, making new moon intentions, and planetary influences.

* Astrology for the Soul by Jan Spiller - This is the best treatise on applying astrology personally.

* Instant Divine Assistance, Your Complete Guide to Fast and Easy Spiritual Awakening, Healing, and More by Benjamin Bernstein - This is a short book that includes invocations that are simple and authoritative.

* Project 333: The Minimalist Fashion Challenge That Proves Less Really Is So Much More by Courtney Carver. It you are interested in building a ‘capsule wardrobe,’ this is a great place to start.

* The Total Money Makeover: Classic Edition: A Proven Plan for Financial Fitness by Dave Ramsey - Ramsey’s courses are also great resources for young children, middle and high school students, and adults. You will learn solid techniques to get out of and stay out of debt.

* For a great contemporary murder/detective fiction series: The Inspector Gamache series in order of publication by Louise Penny. These stories are set in a charming town on the Quebec border with Vermont. I suggest you read/listen on Audible the series of books in the order in which they were written.

* My fiction novels: Her Tragic Flaw and Fish Your Wish by L.M. Duncan - my books! They are novella length.

~ All of these books can be purchased on Amazon ~

Writing

* The Re-Imagine Writing Online Course - contact me for more information on the course.

* On Writing, A Memoir of the Craft by Stephen King. This is the best book I’ve encountered for learning to write well.

* Grammar Girl Presents the Ultimate Writing Guide for Students by Mignon Fogarty

* The Elements of Style, annotated edition, 2020 by Strunk and White

* Warriner’s English Grammar and Composition by John Warringer and Francis Griffith — it’s and oldie and goodie

* Writing with Clarity and Style: A Guide to Rhetorical Devices for Contemporary Writers, 2nd Edition, by Robert Harris
